About the event
Immerse yourself in COLOR through the history of Art! The swirling blues of Van Gogh, the Golden Yellows of the pharaohs, the deep reds of Rothko are just the beginning. Each week we explore the Earth-pigment origins of colors in art. Imagine five weeks of Greens, Violets, Oranges, Reds, Blues Yellows, Blacks and Whites as they appear in the greatest paintings in history. Along the way, dynamic artist and presenter John Paul Thornton will show the actual materials which have been ground to make paint for thousands of years. Learn the origins of organic pigments, from clay river banks, finely ground precious gemstones and minerals. John Paul will demonstrate the process of mixing paint. Then, together we explore how diverse artists from cultures around the globe have used color to express symbolic aspects of humanity, employing color psychology, color theory and an examination of color's spiritual language. Â
This  series will meet online five sessions from December 14- December 28.
