Travel to Egypt in Spring 2028

Stand before the pyramids. Step inside the tombs whose painted walls still tell stories of spiritual rebirth, thousands of years after their creation. Behold the treasures of Tutankhamum, and sail the fabled Nile river. Join artist and educator John Paul Thornton in Spring of 2028 for an exploration of Egypt and a seven-night cruise on Ama Waterways' AmaNubia.

John Paul brings extensive knowledge of Egyptian history, art and culture, having traveled to Egypt and creating lectures and courses devoted to these subjects. He looks forward to sharing this trip with you. Alongside AmaWaterways’ expert local Egyptologist, he will help you connect the monuments and museum collections with the beliefs, people and ideas behind them—adding meaning to the places you have long wanted to see.

An Exciting Trip of a Lifetime...

To enhance AmaWaterways’ Secrets of Egypt & the Nile program, we are adding time in Cairo at the beginning for further exploration of the Grand Egyptian Museum. You will have more time to discover its collections, linger over the pieces that capture your interest and explore the art and history with John Paul. The Great Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, Memphis and Sakkara are part of the itinerary before the group flies to Luxor to board AmaNubia. Along the river, highlights include Karnak and Luxor temples, the Valley of the Kings and Queens, Edfu, Kom Ombo, Aswan and the Temple of Hathor at Dendera.

You can also choose optional, but exceptional, excursions to the monumental temples of Abu Simbel and enjoy afternoon tea at Aswan’s historic Old Cataract Hotel, overlooking the Nile—a lovely opportunity to experience another side of Egypt. Between explorations, AmaNubia offers the comfort of a small ship, with just 38 staterooms and suites accommodating 76 guests. Unpack, settle in and enjoy meals and conversations with fellow travelers, time on the Sun Deck and the changing scenery along the river.

If Egypt has been on your list, this is your invitation to move it from “someday” to April 2028.

Come for the pyramids, the temples and the Nile—and discover how much more there is to experience.
